Recording Techniques
The acoustic guitars were recorded using an Audio Technica Dynamic Hypercardiod microphone, both were recorded clean. The electric guitar part was recorded on a Fender 'Stratocaster', through a Marshall JCM 600 guitar amplifier, with the in-between pickup selected. The guitar break was recorded in the same way on both electric and acoustic guitars.
Originally the backing for the song was completed on the Session 8 hard disk editor, but due to unwanted noise on the recording i.e. clearly audible clicks, I had to re-record the guitars and bass directly to ADAT. The techniques employed on Session 8 when recording the guitars were the same as previously mentioned, except one acoustic guitar was recorded directly, through the Korg 'Pandora's Box' multi-effects, using the electro acoustic output.
The bass guitar used was a standard model 'Encore' bass, recorded direct to ADAT using the line-input on the mixing desk.
The vocals were recorded using an ATM27E Audio Technica Dynamic Hypercardiod mic, with a pop shield.
The drums were recorded using a 5 mic technique, which were placed in the following positions:
- Bass drum
- Hi-Hat
- Snare
- Left overhead
- Right overhead
Additional cymbal crashes were also overdubded using a directional microphone.

Lyrics
If its over,
my shoulder,
time and again.
Don't feel sorry,
don't you worry,
I am your friend.
So why don't you smile at me,
decide if were 'ment to be.
If its over,
four leaf clover,
tied round my brain.
Don't resist all,
pride and pitfall,
I'm left to say,
So why don't you smile at me,
decide if were 'ment to be.
So why don't you smile at me,
decide if were 'ment to be.
If its over,
my shoulder,
time and again.
Don't feel sorry,
don't you worry,
I am your friend.
So why don't you smile at me,
decide if were 'ment to be.
So why don't you smile at me,
decide if were 'ment to be.
